The Department of Motor Vehicles, at present integrated in the SPD structure, reminds Somertonians that the 2015 motor vehicles registration is underway. Applications for license plates of motor vehicles used by residents in the Somerton Metro Area (SMA) are available. Somertonians that do not reside in the SMA but often travel to it with a recurrent vehicle do not need apply but can if they so wish. The deadline for the 2015 registration with the DMV is January 31. Registration is mandatory for SMA residents.
The applications can be obtained through the SPD 911 points (aka "Blue Light Points") in Greenwich Village, East River and Long Island, at the East River SPD precinct or through any SPD officer. We remind the public that Somerton license plates have been exempt from taxes for 2015 by the Authority and that existing vehicles used by Somerton residents in the SMA that are not license plate friendly may be considered exceptions, the owners of such vehicles are expected to carry a plate holder with the license plate none the less.
